Dear Mayor Ballard,
My name is Michael Quarto. I’m a Cathedral graduate and the proud owner of The Mousetrap. As I’m sure you know, we are one of Indianapolis’ older establishments, having opened in 1957. I bought the place in 2002 and have revamped it quite a bit. I hope you’ll stop by for a bowl of our famous Hot Stew sometime. The reason for my letter is our absolute need for a smoking ban. If you were in The Mousetrap on a weekend night, you might think I was crazy to want this, as 70-80% of…

I am a Broad Ripple Village resident and I love all things that its residents do to contribute to the wealth of living experiences in the community. Four plus years ago I created a business networking organization called the Broad Ripple Business Network and the idea was to create a weekly business networking hour long mixer to help mainly Broad Ripple based business professionals meet people who could introduce each other to new client opportunities. We still do this every Tuesday at Moe &…

Just a quick heads up. Dan Fahrner of Transpanther Booking will be heading up the Broad Ripple Music Fest. He is currently working behind the scenes to get things rolling.
The date is still October 17th.
The location is still Broad Ripple.
More info coming soon. We realized collectively, at SmallBox/MFT, that we simply couldn't do it this year and Dan has stepped in to make it happen.
Thanks! Jeb

I know October is a ways off but better to start on this now.
Please give us some feedback on the Fest.
Good dates, good venues we missed last years, feedback on last couple years and what was good or bad, new ideas and anything else you can think of!
Once we get some feedback we will be scheduling the kick off meeting for sometime in March. If you want to help organize the event let us know what dates/times in March are good or bad.
Thanks! Jeb

Like many Broad Ripplians (is that a word?) I was anxiously awaiting the opening of Brothers here in Broad Ripple at the corner of Broad Ripple Avenue and Guilford where the trophy shop used to be. So on the very first or maybe second day it was open I had lunch there with a client.
The space is really nice and you can appreciate the bar is meant for packed weekend nights with it's wide open space layout. When we walked in the waitress directed us to a table with bar stools. I thought this was…

I was replying to a post on
Musical Family Tree about Broad Ripple and realized I should post this here as a blog post.
I find BR is still very vibrant although I wasn't raised here and only knew it a little in the early 90s. To me it's a real community. I can hardly walk a block without seeing someone I know. It reminds me of how Bloomington was in the mid-90s (for me at least).…

Just wanted to do a quick post about the Fest. First off, I want to send out a big "thanks!" to all the promoters, venues, nonprofits and artists that took part in the Fest. In my opinion it was a big success.
The kick off party at the Vogue went well. I was hoping for a little better turn out but we didn't lose money, or really make any, but the vibe was good and the bands sounded great.
Saturday night went really well, at least at the venues I attended. Since I had booked Spin I spent most o…

Now that the smoke has cleared from another successful Broad Ripple Music Fest I'm looking for help getting entertainment along the
marathon route. Click for route and times the runners will be passing by.
The proceeds from the marathon benefit IPS programs.
The weather looks good- much warmer than last weekend.
I'd love bands, kids banging on pots and pans or you in your bathrobe drinking coffee and cheering along the runners…
