Alejandro Escovedo, Friday April 10

The Royal Theater is proud to announce that Good Friday, April 10, we will be presenting in concert the legendary Rock/ Americana artist, Alejandro Escovedo. His acoustic trio will be performing, including David Pulkingham on guitar and Susan Voelz on the violin.

If the Royal is the home of great-but-not- so-well-known artists, then Alejandro Escovedo is the iconic poster child for this title, but that is changing. Named "Artist of the Decade" for the 1990's by ROLLING STONE magazine in 2000, Alejandro has produced a stellar discography that has drawn rave reviews; and ten years later, the broader recognition that has eluded him has come. Several music critics, including NO DEPRESSION, have named his latest record, REAL
ANIMAL, "Best New CD of 2008." He shared the stage with Bruce Springsteen this past year in Houston, played the
Democratic National Convention, and earned the title "Best Live Performance" in several venues, including the esteemed Eddie's Attic in Atlanta, GA.
His achievements and accolades are seemingly endless; let it suffice to say this is a MUST SEE performance!
Alejandro, an Austin native, will be performing in an acoustic triow/special guest, Carrie Rodriguez, an enormously talented string artist from Brooklyn, specializing in the violin and electric
mandolin.
